ABOUT THE SEMINAR

The Protection of Personal Information Act (POPI} has made it necessary for all companies to reconsider how they treat the personal information of customers, staff and suppliers. This can be a daunting task, because POPI creates new rules for every aspect of the 'information lifecycle' -from collecting it to destroying it.

POPI is not even in force yet but the Information Regulator has been appointed and is actively working on its implementation. We expect that POPI will be in force sometime in 2018, but it requires significant preparation and this course will help with working out how it woudl be best to approach this challenging law.

What makes this workshop different to all the others out there? We will not just regurgitate the provisions of POPI. We will tell you how to get started with your POPI project, how to justify your project on the basis of increased efficiency and security and share the lessons we have learnt so far.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND THIS SEMINAR?

The course is primarily aimed at information officers, in-house legal advisors, compliance officers and attorneys but it is also very useful to people with no legal background.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?

• Gain practical knowledge on the duties POPI will create for your business

• Get an overview of the legal documents you need to create

• Get advice on how to get started with your business' POPI compliance project
